Robin (Jamie) Jamison
Jamie is a partner in a Tulsa
development company, ‘The Village
Builders’, whose ‘Village at Central
Park’ of urban brownstones is taking
shape at Peoria and 8th St., close
to Downtown Tulsa.
He graduated magna cum laude in
Philosophy and Literature from
Warwick University, England a long
time ago.
Following character-forming stints
as brick-mason, book-seller,
truck-driver, teacher, et al., Jamie
settled into a conventional career
in national, international and
worldwide marketing, working for
well-known corporations in four
industries. He developed a knack for
being a creative agent for Change in
new business development, new
products and brand turnarounds.
Jamie has lived in England, Italy
and Switzerland, and has worked in
around 30 countries worldwide. He
was a founding Director of London
Musici in 1988, a chamber orchestra
that continues to prosper, and was a
sponsor in one of his incarnations
of the Edinburgh International
Festival. He has organized two music
festivals in the Pearl District
since arriving in Tulsa, and is
presently working with others on the
‘Tulsa International Festival’
project. He is also on the Boards of
the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame,
TulsaNow, and is Secretary of the
Pearl District Association, where he
is currently helping to set up The
Pearl Farmers’ Market. As Oklahoma’s
first, ‘new urbanist’ developer, he
is a persistent lobbyist for an
extreme makeover of Tulsa’s land-use
policies.
He met his wife, Kathy, an
Oklahoman, in Venice - the world’s
largest car-free city - when they
were both members of the
International Working Group of the
World Federation of Advertisers.
They moved to Oklahoma from central
London in 1997, with their young
son, Adam, expecting to take life a
little slower. This didn’t happen.
Jamie attributes great importance to
the walkable diversity of cities,
and sees the Arts as a decisive
factor for Tulsa’s vitality and
future prosperity.

About the TSO...
The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra employs professional
musicians with the focused, collective, and ongoing
aim of presenting all kinds of music of the highest
quality. The TSO functions throughout the year, and
is comprised of self-governing “executive
musicians”—individuals who perform masterful music
and execute the many decisions involved in
sustaining a major orchestra. With a variety of
performances and concerts, in-school events,
community-engagement programs, classroom lessons,
collaborative master classes, and other such
appearances, the TSO intends to invigorate and
broaden arts education all across the City of Tulsa
and, further, the State of Oklahoma. Rebuilding and
strengthening the musical arts infrastructure of
this city and its environs will remain a key concern
and core value of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
