TULSA (Feb. 13, 2007) — The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra is going “Looney” in April with “Bugs Bunny on Broadway,” the critically-acclaimed concert which showcases classic Warner Bros. Studios cartoons projected on the big screen, while their original film scores are performed live, in perfect synchronization by Tulsa Symphony Orchestra’s own 70-piece symphony orchestra. Emmy Award-winning Conductor George Daugherty will lead Tulsa Symphony Orchestra as they take Tulsa Performing Art Center’s Chapman Music Hall’s stage on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m.

This unique concert will feature musical masterpieces of Wagner, Rossini, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, and others, as interpreted through the “hare-raising” cartoon scores of legendary Warner Bros. Studios composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, in such beloved Looney Tunes as “What's Opera, Doc?,” “The Rabbit of Seville,” “Corny Concerto,” “Baton Bunny,” “Long-Haired Hare,” “High Note,” and many more.

Since its sold-out, extended Broadway debut at The Gershwin Theatre in 1990, more than a million and a half people have seen this concert in performances with the world’s greatest orchestras, including 11 sold-out performances at The Hollywood Bowl with The Los Angeles Philharmonic, four sold-out weeks at The Sydney Opera House, and record-setting performances with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, The Royal Philharmonic at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and dozens of other orchestras . . . plus an historic sold out week at Moscow’s iconic Kremlin Palace. Newsday gave it “Four carrots, highest rating!”

“I have always loved Bugs Bunny,” said Tulsa Symphony Orchestra’s President and CEO Frank Letcher, “What an exciting opportunity to showcase a perfect combination of classic cartoons and live symphonic music. Bringing George Daugherty and his spectacular creation is Tulsa Symphony Orchestra’s gift to Tulsa. Our hope is these performances will reveal the universality of classical music for generations to come.”

George Daugherty created this unusual combination of cartoons and classics, and has conducted it throughout the world. Daugherty’s 25 year conducting career has also included appearances with some of the world's leading orchestras, ballet companies, opera houses and concert artists. Daugherty is also an Emmy award-winning creator whose professional profile includes major credits as a director, writer and producer for television, film, innovative and unique concerts and theater.

Daugherty is a frequent guest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Houston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, London’s Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and the Sydney Opera House, among others. He is music director of London’s Sinfonia Britannia.

Since its creation, “Bugs Bunny on Broadway” has delighted audiences on every continent of the world. Bugs, Elmer, Daffy, The Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, and Porky Pig now make their Tulsa Symphony Orchestra premiere on the tail of these acclaimed worldwide performances in the U.S., Canada, Australia, The United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, China, Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, South America, and many other locales.
